Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo abbreviated as SRJMB was a Hindi sitcom telecast on SAB TV from Monday to Friday at 9.00 pm IST initially but later at 11:30 pm. The serial name was based on a famous song “Sajan re jhoot mat bolo, Khuda ke paas jana hai” from the movie Teesri Kasam.

Prakash (Ashok Kumar) is returning home after eleven years from UK, and is now on a train for his journey back home. He meets a young man, also called Prakash (Ramesh Gupta), on the train who befriends him. The train meets with an accident and Prakash loses his memory. While Prakash is wandering around trying to regain his memory, the man from the train thinking that Prakash (Kumar) is dead, pretends to be Prakash and reaches his house.

Hesitant to marry dancer Rajni, Ashok initially refuses but slowly falls in love with her. However, when Ashok and Rajni are about to get married, they find themselves embroiled in a murder.

Ashok comes from a business family and lives a very wealthy lifestyle. One day while perusing newspapers he comes across an article which claims that he is to marry a dancer named Rajni. Angered at this insinuation, he goes to confront Rajni, all ready to threaten with a lawsuit, but is instead bewitched by her beauty and innocence and ends up falling in love with her. Initially he does not reveal his real identity, but does inform her eventually, and both are ready to take the next step. Before that could happen both get embroiled in a murder - a murder that ends up having three different killers - all confessing to the same crime. The song "Sajjan sajjan pukaru galiyon main, kabhi phoolon me dhundu, kabhi kaaliyon main..." continues to be popular even today.

After the death of their parents, Kamla Gulati and her elder brother live together and assist each other. Soon her brother gets a job and they move up in life. Then Kamla elopes with a young man and leaves her brother without informing him of her whereabouts. Shortly thereafter her pregnant body is found lifeless, abandoned by her boyfriend. Now Gulati is the President of an organization, and has promoted young Vinod Thakur as it's Vice-President. Gulati goes for a holiday in Panchgani and upon arrival at the local Circuit House meets with a young woman who identifies herself as Vinodini T. Gulati, the daughter of T.N. Gulati. He starts treating her as his sister and becomes very protective toward her. When he finds out that a young man named Amol Palekar alias Ramu is attempting to woo her, he forbids her to see or have any contact with him in any way, as he fears that she may end up like Kamla. He is headed for several surprises as he will soon find out that Vinodini is not who she ...
